Teacher/Staff Engagement & Development:

As an executive leader in healthcare, one of the things that I would consistently message to our hospital staff, leadership team, and our hospital's board of directors, is that a healthcare leader's job is to care for and support those who are directly caring for our patients.  As an MTSD school board member, I see our administrative leadership team's role similarly.  And in my time as a school board member, I have greatly appreciated the support that our district provides to our invaluable teachers and staff through market competitive compensation and benefits packages.

Beyond this, recruitment and retention of high-performing and high-quality teachers and staff remains challenging, as we are a district within a competitive market.  We will therefore require creative and competitive total compensation packages to both recruit and retain the "best of the best" that our community expects and our students deserve.  We must find ways to further engage, listen, and respond to the needs of our educators and staff so that we understand and appreciate the needs of our most important asset as a district - our teachers and staff.  Professional development and mentorship programs, appropriate evaluative/feedback and advancement processes, and adequate support services that promote well-being and engagement are imperative to our student's success.
